Photography Exhibition Returns To North Fork To "Spring Into Summer"

Ten artists from Long Island and New York City are to be featured at Alex Ferrone Gallery in Cutchogue during the new exhibit Spring into Summer - The Print Edition.

The eclectic collection includes the diverse photographic styles of Linda K. Alpern, Karen Bell, Larry Davis, Colin Goldberg, Thomas Halaczinsky, Katherine Liepe-Levinson, Jim Sabiston, Steven Schreiber, Mac Titmus, and Alex Vignoli.

"Continuing to spring into our sixth season of fine art offerings at the Gallery, we are pleased to be presenting wonderful works of ten artists for this exhibition," Gallery owner Alex Ferrone shared. " We have an array of artistic styles and techniques on exhibit including hand-painted silver gelatin photographs, black & white and color pigment prints, digital art, and mixed media pieces produced with india ink, acrylics, and pigment. Subject matter varies as well and includes abstract compositions, representational scenes, and still-life images."

Linda K. Alpern, of Sag Harbor, features artists, writers and friends in her photographs and has shown her works in galleries through throughout the Hamptons. Alpern was awarded a one-woman exhibit at Guild Hall Museum as the Best in Show winner of their 66th Annual Juried Exhibition and her work resides in permanent collections locally and across the nation.

New York City resident, Karen Bell received her MFA in photography from The Rhode Island School of Design. Her work has been exhibited at The Brooklyn Museum, Ellis Island Immigration Museum, White Columns of New York City, and she has had public and private collections in Pfizer Pharmaceuticals, New York Public Library and many more. Bell has earned fellowships to Yaddo and Virginia Center for the Creative Arts and earned grants from LMCC/Governors Island and The New School and the Women's Interart Center in New York City.

Yonkers native Larry Davis is a self-taught photographer exhibiting his working in Soho Photo in Manhattan, as well as prior group and solo exhibits around the Tri-State area and in South America. Davis's photographs have been selected for the permanent collection of the Polaroid Corporation.

Colin Goldberg, of Rocky Point, coined the term Techspressionism in his work which explores the intersection of traditional and digital art making. His photographs have been featured in The New York Times, Parrish Art Museum, Manhattan's 69th Regiment Armory, and Miami's Fountain Art Fair and he has permanent collections in the Islip Art Museum, the Pollock-Krasner House, and was awarded a residency at The Studios of Key West in 2015.

Thomas Halaczinsky, an award-winning documentary filmmaker, photographer and writer, splits his time between Brooklyn and Greenport. His work looks deep into the connection between people and places. His latest work led him on an expedition of the Archipelago of New York via sailboat. Archipelago New York, Halaczinsky's photographic and literary log of his extensive journey was published and released this spring by Schiffer Books.

Katherine Liepe-Levinson resides in Forest Hills and studied at the International Center for Photography in New York City, as well as holds a PhD in Theatre from the Graduate School, CUNY. She has worked as a professional dance and actor on and off Broadway. Her photography has appeared locally, at major art fairs such as Art Miami, Art Basel, and Wynwood Art, and on journal, magazine, and book covers.

Jim Sabiston, who hails from Bay Shore, is an freelance artist who has received awards from National Geographic Explorer magazine, the Adirondack Mountain Club, the Islip Arts Council, Gallery North, and East End Arts, and has been published in other books and magazines. His latest series uses his background as a painter and photographer to create works that mix bold fundamentals of both mediums.

Steven Schreiber, of Flanders, has exhibited locally at Alex Ferrone Gallery, East End Arts, Remsenburg Academy, Karen Mannix Contemporary Gallery, and The South Street Gallery. The award-winning photographer adds personal touches via visual textures and colors.

Based out of Coram, Mac Titmus is an award-winning photographic artist that combines the worlds of digital art and classic photography, resulting in "Interpretative Photography." The Adelphi graduate currently is the Vice-President of the North Shore Art Guild. His many awards include from Hutchins Gallery, Brookville; Fusion Arts Digital & Photography; Aces Art Magazine; and Brookhaven Arts & Humanities.

Alex Vignoli, of Southampton, is inspired by Da Vinci, Dali, and other Surrealism artists. The award-winning commercial and fine art photographer has been featured in over 50 exhibitions internationally and his works can be found in both private and corporate international collections, including in Brazil, Costa Rica, England, France, Greece, and the U.S.

"Along with all new framed works on exhibit, each artist will have a selection of unframed prints available, providing a varied structure for our viewers and collectors with access to more works at additional affordable price points," Ferrone added. "To expand our reach with this larger selection of works, we are extending this eclectic exhibition as we Spring into Summer in a few short weeks."

Spring into Summer - The Print Edition will be on display from Saturday, May 19 to Sunday, July 22. A reception will open the exhibit on Saturday May 19th from 6 to 8 pm.
