"It is 1933," Director Jan McGoey sets the stage for Riverhead Faculty and Community Theater's latest production, "Peggy Sawyer has come to New York in hopes of being in a Broadway show." Can you guess which Broadway classic McGoey is referring to? If not, it's "42nd Street."
Based on the novel by Bradford Ropes, the musical follows Peggy Sawyer on her quest to make it big in The Big Apple. After landing a part in the chorus of Director Julian Marsh's production of "Pretty Lady," Sawyer is let go, when the star, Dorothy Brock, breaks her ankle, and blames the theater newbie. But not all hope is lost for Sawyer, as Marsh eventually realizes she could be the show's savior. He rushes to the train station to catch her before she leaves town. So will the actress say yes to what could be her big break?
