Typically over the weekend leading up to Valentine's Day, unique, handmade items from a plethora of local artisans are highlighted during the Valentine Craftmarket at Ashawagh Hall
. Unfortunately, the beloved holiday bazaar had to be skipped this year, but fair organizer Jamie Lerner - who also spearheads the Friends Bazaar - will hold a Spring Craftmarket on Saturday, March 13 instead.
The one-day only shopping extravaganza, featuring art and fine crafts, plus edible creations, will take place from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. There will be a wide variety of handmade items, including ceramics, jewelry, wood-ware, textiles, wearable art, home decor, soaps and skin products, knits for babies and kids, scrimshaw, cards, prints, pastels, herbs, teas, cider, granola, marmalade, chocolate, Greek olive oils and vinegars, and more.
"I'm always grateful for the continuing popularity of the Annual Friends Bazaar, especially this past December when, despite COVID restrictions and torrential Nor'easter rains all day, it was a phenomenal success!" Lerner said. "This Spring Craftmarket will feature numerous returning artisans from that show, plus others, and also includes an array of artisanal foods and beverages."

Spring Craftmarket artisans include Eric Heck of Barrier Island Woodworking, Aileen Florell (ceramics), Jayne Johnes (pastels and wall sculpture), Peter Spacek of Ditch Ink (cards, scrimshaw, drawings, comics), Valerie DeVito of Gilded Olive Apothecary (soaps and skin products), Jody Gambino (wire-wrapped jewelry), Polly Mosendz of Silk and Sea Designs, Barry Kreiswirth of The Woodlab (wood-ware), Jamie Lerner (jewelry), Dafni Greek Gourmet, Rachel Stephens of Sweet Woodland Farm, Tina Mulholland of Serious Chocolate, and Jeanette Candidio of The Granola Plant.
"Happily, there will be a few new artisans participating in one of my shows for the first time," Lerner added. "We were unable to offer the Valentine Craftmarket in February this year, but much as the Friends Bazaar launches the community holiday season, this event will be our kick-off to welcome spring!"
Masks are required to attend the Spring Craftmarket and there will be a one-way-only entrance and exit doors. Only 25 people may be in Ashawagh Hall at any one time.
Ashawagh Hall is located at 780 Springs-Fireplace Road in East Hampton.
