8th Annual Homegrown For The Holidays To Highlight The Works Of More Than 50 Local Artists, Food Purveyors, And Makers

Homegrown For The Holidays, the highly anticipated Hayground School Artisanal Food & Craft Bazaar, will take place on Saturday, December 7.

"Homegrown for the Holidays always jump starts the season for me and gets me into the spirit of the holidays," Marcelle Langendal, Hayground Faculty Chair, said.

"We will have over fifty local artisans and vendors this year, selling a wide variety of items, including jewelry, ceramics, glassware, art, photography, accessories, home decor—even handmade treats and accessories for your pet," Todd Farley, Hayground parent and Homegrown For The Holidays co-organizer, noted.

The shopping extravaganza, which is free to attend and open to the public, will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. In addition to the extraordinary selection from local makers, Homegrown For The Holidays will also include fun crafts for children, raffles for exciting specialty items, seasonal tunes, and a new special spot to wrap your finds.

"We will be raffling baskets of the unique and beautiful items crafted by our vendors, and WEHM radio will be on site from 12 to 2 p.m., playing holiday music and doing prize giveaways," Donna Farley, Hayground parent and Homegrown For The Holidays co-organizer, relayed. "New this year, we will offer gift-wrapping for shoppers, using eco-friendly materials and items from nature."

Vendor fees support Hayground School's academic programs, while Homegrown For The Holidays sales directly support local artists and business owners. Hayground School, which was founded in 1996, offers children age 3 through 13 "a hands-on education based on mentorship, student-led inquiry, and authentic endeavors in the arts, sciences, and humanities."

"Jean [Lindgren] and I have found some wonderful presents shopping at Homegrown for the Holidays, including some lovely beaded jewelry from a Hayground graduate and member of the Shinnecock Nation!" Tony Hitchcock of Hitchcock & Lindren shared.
