On Saturday, March 12th, The
Peconic Community School (PCS) will extend its school week by taking a "field trip" to the Riverhead Charter School (3685 Middle Country Road, Calverton), where attendees will explore invention and imagination during
Create: Maker Faire, an event open to the entire East End community.
"We are really looking forward to this Saturday's
Create: A Maker Faire and
The After Party, with a day chock full of making, attendees of the
Maker Faire will experience and interact with mobile maker spaces,
Lego leagues, science centers, squishy circuits, artists, clowns, beer makers and more," said Elizabeth Casey Searl, Co-Executive Director of the Peconic Community School. "This event like, Peconic Community School, celebrates creativity, innovation, and resourcefulness and we are excited to share this type of faire out here on the East End."

From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., East End "Makers" will host complimentary interactive workshops and demonstrations for children that will shine a light on a variety of topics, such as robotics, Legos, coding, felt-making, origami, the arts, and much more. "It's exciting to have so many local organizations and individuals participating, we are grateful for them all and for their commitment to the Maker Movement," she noted. The family-friendly festival, which is described as part science fair, part county fair, is open to all-ages, as children will keep busy with their pick of hands-on projects and demonstrations led by Ultra Motion, Tesla Science Center at Wardenclyffe, The
Long Island Science Center, The Custer Institute,
Group for the East End, The
Hayground School, and more, while adults learn about the Peconic Community School and the Maker Movement.
After watching the presentations unfold, guests are invited to
The After Party at
Greenport Harbor Brewing Company (42155 Main Road, Peconic). From 7 to 10 p.m., partygoers will be treated to music by the East End's own
Gene Casey and the Lone Sharks, GBC's Food Truck, a fishbowl auction, dancing, light finger food and a complimentary ale or lager. "We are thrilled to have
Gene Casey &
the Lone Sharks play at
The After Party again this year," added Casey Searl. Admission to
The After Party is $30.
