The Springs Improvement Society Hosting 49th Annual Springs Invitational Art Exhibit

The Springs Improvement Society is presenting its 49th Annual Springs Invitational Art Exhibit beginning Friday, August 5th through Sunday, August 21st at Ashawagh Hall in East Hampton.

The invitational is curated by artist Nick Tarr. Guests will want to return weekend after weekend to enjoy film screenings, poetry readings, live performances, paintings, sculptures, and musical entertainment throughout the fair.

"All new art and many artists new to the Springs Invitational have been chosen by our guest curator and artist, Nick Tarr," explained Beth Meredith, Administrator for the Springs Invitational Art Exhibit. "He's also added some very special film, poetry and musical evening events to the Invitational calendar."

On Friday, August 5th from 5 to 8 p.m., an opening reception will be held to celebrate featured artists. Job Potter & Friends will provide the evening's live entertainment. Additionally, Margaret Kerr, Adrienne Mim, Alexander Russo, and Athos Zacharias will be awarded Ashawagh Honors certificates for their dedication to the arts.

On Saturday, August 6th, a performance by Jeremy Slater will take place at 7 p.m. and John Jinks' A Guitar Maker's Path will be screened at 8 p.m., followed by a viewing of a duo of Jinks' short films, Red Dress and Reboot, at 9 p.m.

Springs Invitational will host An Evening of Poetry + Revelry on Friday, August 12th from 6 to 9 p.m., and Nick Tarr will present a Curator's Talk from 4 to 5 p.m. on Saturday, August 13th. Following the lecture, attendees should stick around for a live performance from Red Tide & Friends, a rock and roll band from the East End, from 6 to 9 p.m.

All proceeds from the sale will benefit the Springs Improvement Society.
