Welcome in the holiday season with the East Hampton Historical Society
's 2014 House & Garden Tour. Comprised of five striking homes and gardens, this year's showcase, which is scheduled from 1 to 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, November 29, 2014, features some of the finest architecture and outdoor design in the Hamptons.
The theme of the 2014 tour is the shingle, and its ability to portray the spirit of the East End. "This year's tour celebrates the role that the shingle plays in the architecture of East Hampton," Richard Barons
, Director of the East Hampton Historical Society, said. "Through a varied vocabulary, architects have used the shingle to express the past in the present."

Now in its 30th year, the tour will ring in the holiday season at the historical Maidstone
Club with its Opening Night Cocktail Party from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Friday, November 28, 2014.
Tourgoers will have the opportunity to take a look inside East Hampton's most luxurious shingled residences which range in style from historical to contemporary, displaying the past and present lifestyles of the Hamptons. With classic to mid-century designs, the interiors of the homes offer viewers with a special look at the individual style, passion, and personality of the homeowners.
"This is one of our most important fundraisers," expressed event chairman Joseph Aversano. "So while you're contemplating a magnificent swimming pool and cabana, an alée of hydrangeas connecting one garden to another, or a historical Osborne property, your dollars will be hard at work supporting the East Hampton Historical Society and its museums."

Tickets for the Opening Night Cocktail Party are $200, and include entry to Saturday's tour. Tickets to the self-guided Hampton House & Garden Tour are $65 in advance and $75 on the day of the tour.
