The champagne flowed at London Jewelers' Manhasset location at the Americana on the Miracle Mile. Guests were treated to a tutorial about diamonds by De Beers' Forevermark diamond expert Gareth Jones
among others, including the hands-on opportunity to sift through piles of rough diamonds. After a slide show aided presentation that featured the De Beers Group operations around the world and included a history of the precious stone, attendees were educated in regards to what determines the characteristics that make specific diamonds unique and learned the artisanship of how diamonds are cut and polished to bring out the precious gems found within the rough diamonds.
Also in attendance were our hosts, members of the Udell family, who have run the four-generation family owned London Jewelers since Grandfather Charles London first started the business in 1926 winding and repairing clocks at the Gatsby era mansions of the North Shore's Gold Coast. Joining the Udells and other guests was Forevermark U.S. President Charles Stanley.

At several stations around the stunning showroom guests, including one couple with their teenage son, using jewelers' wanes separated generous piles of rough diamonds into potentially quality cuts based on what they had learned from the De Beers experts. The experts moved from group to group commenting on the diamonds' chosen and further educating the guests regarding the potential cut their choices might achieve.
The grand finale of the evening's event was the unveiling of the Forevermark Exceptional Diamond Collection. The centerpiece of the collection was a stunning yellow diamond ring that was in excess of 20 carats. And yes, believe it or not, guests were permitted to try on the ring and handle the very large, very expensive stones.
Quite a night at one of the nation's premier jewelry retailers, London Jewelers, one of only a handful of jewelers chosen by De Beers to carry their Forevermark line.
