Due to the expected inclement weather, the Shelter Island Design Walk has been moved to Sunday, August 30.

On Saturday, August 29, the First Annual Shelter Island Design Walk will take tour-goers to six spectacular Shelter Island sites.

Award-winning interior designer Fredric Bernstein of Fredric Bernstein Design Studio and Fine Décor Gallery brought these unique designers together to celebrate interior design and their ties to Shelter Island. "Cristina Peffer of Ram Design reached out to me to forge a collaborative and supportive relationship as fellow Shelter Island designers and store owners," Bernstein noted. "The spirit of the gesture inspired me to bring together other designers on the island to celebrate our unique approaches to interior design along with ties that bind us together on this special island."

Guests will have the chance to visit six Shelter Island interior designers in their studios and shops and will have the opportunity to listen to designers from Fredric Bernstein Design, Ram Design, Heiberg Cummings, Dirt, Marika's, and Patricia McGrath Design speak about their design philosophies and inspirations. Additionally, participants can also meet with designers, and enjoy drinks and appetizers.

The 1st Annual Shelter Island Design Walk will begin 9:00 a.m. with "Treasure Finder Talk" at Marika's (6 South Ferry Road). "Fine Decor Punk" at Fredric Bernstein Design (36 North Ferry Road) will follow from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. "Nature in Design" at Ram Design (181 North Ferry Road) will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. Dirt (184 North Ferry Road) will touch upon the "Philosophy of Home" from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Heiberg Cummings (183 North Ferry Road) will delve into "Introducing Dienst + Dotter" from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and the last chat, "Modern Coastal Living," will take place at Patricia McGrath Design (11 Grand Avenue) from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.

"I hope we can continue as well as grow the Shelter Island Design Walk year after year," he added.

Reservations are not required and there is no fee to attend. Social distancing protocol and practices will observed at each location. A portion of the proceeds from the Design Walk will benefit the Shelter Island Food Pantry.
