Java fanatics most likely can't function or begin the day without their brew of choice. If your passion for coffee runs deep and you can easily rattle off the difference between a plain cup of joe, cappuccino, espresso, latte, and macchiato, or you're just interested in learning more about the craft, clear your calendar on Sunday, March 13th and head to
Guild Hall for its next complimentary Table Talk lecture, which features A Journey with Java: Exploring the Tastes of Coffee.
From 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., attendees will expand their coffee horizons and maybe even preferences as they partake in a sampling of different brewing methods. Presented by
Starbucks®' Coffee Masters, the event will include a look at the differences between whole bean, VIA®, and Verismo® (which is Starbuck's single serving machine) brewing, as well Starbucks®' roast spectrum from its lightest offering to its darkest roast.
The morning will also serve as the culmination of Starbucks®'s Coffee Masters, an 8-week barista program. The "bartenders" who participated in the "boot camp for bean lovers" and earned their honors will be awarded with the special designation of the black apron. To complete Coffee Masters, baristas must pass five intensive levels of Coffee Master training, be evaluated by specialists, concoct flawlessly balanced drinks and speak at the annual Starbucks conference.
Along with the tasting, Guild Hall's Table Talk will also include food pairings with refreshments provided by Goldberg's.
Admission to A Journey with Java: Exploring the Tastes of Coffee is free.
Guild Hall is located at 158 Main Street in East Hampton. For more information, call 631-324-0806 or visit www.guildhall.org.
