Blue Point Brewing Celebrates Oktoberfest Safely With Zümfest: A Series of Virtual Events

Summer is somehow already in our past and the fall season has arrived. Blue Point Brewing, a local Long Island brewery, is ready to celebrate with a virtual Oktoberfest dubbed Zümfest. The effort was launched as a collaboration between Blue Point Brewing, Spaten, and Steven Harrington Oktoberfest. Blue Point Brewing has expanded their horizons to include their first oak foeder beer. Pre-recorded content will be collected via filmed interactive courses held at Blue Point Brewing's Patchogue brewpub and other locations through September.

Examples of interactive virtual classes include mustard making, how to properly pair cheese and beer, and a Polka lesson. The website will be populated with Oktoberfest and fall festival-inspired content spanning a variety of interests: culinary, art, business, culture and entertainment.

Visitors to the brewpub will have the opportunity to purchase "Oktoberfest At Home" food packages including brats from a NYC German Deli.

Blue Point Brewing's Zümfest digital celebration features five tents: arts, culinary, culture, business, and entertainment. Some highlights include: Artist Steven Harrington illustrates the creative process behind the Zümfest beer can artwork; Mixologist Leanne Favre crafts cocktails with Blue Point Brewing's favorite fall brews; The Polka Brothers give a traditional Oktoberfest polka performance; Baker and Chopped champion Mini Melanie demonstrates how to make chocolate cake truffles with Blue Point Brewing Mother Pumpkin Ale, which are also available pre-made on her site; Oktoberfest At Home food kits available from Blue Point Brewing's brewpub, including bratwursts from Schaller & Weber, an iconic NYC German deli. Blue Point Brewing will also offer classic Oktoberfest dishes all season long from the brewpub.

"I'm excited to work with Blue Point Brewing on my first official limited edition 'Art Can.' We wanted to celebrate this year's fall season with something reflective of the wild times we're in," said Steven Harrington. "I utilized my style to break out the elements of traditional German Oktoberfest celebrations and symbols of Long Island. The result is reflective of this collaboration which spanned across both coasts and to Germany."

There's no doubt that Oktoberfest festivities look a lot different this year, but Blue Point Brewing is doing its very best to keep the fun traditions alive!

"This beer is a New World twist on an Old World tradition. We are very excited about the beer, made in collaboration with Bernd Kraeussel, the Brewmaster at Spaten and with some really amazing art thanks to Steven Harrington. As Oktoberfest in Germany was cancelled this year and we are not able to throw a large celebration, we still wanted to commemorate the release of Zümfest in New York in a safe and conscientious way," reflected Carrie Shafir, Blue Point Brewing General Manager.
