The weather's finally been consistently cold, the end of football season is near with the
Denver Broncos and Carolina Panthers set to battle in
Super Bowl 50, and it's almost time to start thinking about Spring Training (although for
Mets fans, the signing of Yoenis Céspedes means we've already got baseball on the brains), so for those looking for a little comfort food to get you through the worst of winter, you're not going to want to miss this Hamptons competetion.
On Sunday, January 31st, The
Clamshell Foundation is presenting its Great Bonac Chili Cook Off from 1 to 4 p.m. at the
American Legion in Amagansett. "Anytime you put food on the table we all become family, and that's what it's like inside the Great Bonac Chili Cook Off," noted Ross Perchik. "This is a great way to sample to savory wares of about two dozen chefs as well as do something good for this community." Open to Clamshell members (attendees can register for membership at the door), Cook Off guests will taste test the finest chili recipes from professional chefs, local amateurs, and East End Fire Departments.
The annual event serves as the not-for-profit's fundraising kickoff and Membership Drive. "All profits are used to award college scholarships to high school seniors and support the holiday meals programs of ten different churches,
The Retreat and the American Legion and Springs Fire Deptartment during their holiday meals for seniors programs," added Perchik.
The mission of The Clamshell Foundation is to enrich the lives of local community members by fostering education in health, cultural, and environmental fields of endeavor.
Admission is $15.
