If cabin fever is starting to set in, and you're looking for something fun to do over Valentine's Day weekend, join Southampton History Museum for a duo of outdoor events.

"Grab your honey and let the Southampton History Museum help you celebrate Valentine's Day," Tom Edmonds, Southampton History Museum Executive Director, encouraged. "We are sponsoring a robust nature hike along a shimmering lake and a scavenger hunt in the charming village of Southampton."

On Saturday, February 13, the "Looking for Love" Scavenger Hunt will take participants throughout Main Street in Southampton Village on a quest for red hearts. The journey will begin at 11:00 a.m. at the Southampton Inn. Then pairs will set out to search for the hearts - there are seven in total - and once they come across one, they should document it with a picture. After they've discovered all the hearts, duos should head back to the Southampton Inn to claim their prize (prizes will be available while supplies last).

On Sunday, February 14, Southampton Historical Society and Southampton Preservation Trails Society will host a Valentine's Day Hike in Southampton. The traverse will commence at Elliston Park off Millstone Brook Road in Southampton at 10:00 a.m. During the moderately paced 3-mile trek, hikers will enjoy stunning views of Big Fresh Pond and Wolf Swamp. The morning will also include a stop at the historic cemetery, which is part of the park, to learn about Emma Rose Elliston - who was born on a whaling ship off Hawaii. Attendees must don a facemask and social distance from those not in their group. Those interested in attending must RSVP by Saturday, February 13 at 12:00 p.m.

"And it's all Free!" Edmonds added.
