It might have been a hot and humid night in the Hamptons, but one of the coolest events of the summer took place at the beautiful home of George and Joan Hornig on Friday evening. Philanthropist, jewelry designer, and FIT Trustee Joan Hornig hosted a dinner in the Hornig's Art Barn in Water Mill, to celebrate the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT).

The fabulous dinner followed a talk at the Parrish Art Museum in Water Mill by Dr. Valerie Steele, director and chief curator of The Museum at FIT. Joan and George Hornig greeted the guests and then Dr. Joyce F. Brown, President of FIT, spoke about the various opportunities at FIT. Featured around the Art Barn was works by students in toy design, jewelry design, shoe and accessories design, and interior design for guests to enjoy.

Among the guests were Amsale Aberra, Fern Mallis, Emme Aronson, Terrie Sultan, Essie Weingarten, Stan Herman, Liz Peek, Yaz Hernandez, Jean Shafiroff, Susan Shin, Audrey and Martin Gruss, Helen Marx, Michael Byron, Sharon Jacob, Mickey and Michele Cohen, Mickey Ateyeh, Othon and Kathy Prounis, and Richard Anderman.

"I am so pleased to host FIT here in the Hamptons," Joan Hornig said. "I have long thought that there is a natural connection to be made between these two very creative communities."

The Fashion Institute of Technology has been a leader in career education in art, design, business, and technology for more than 70 years.
