The Peconic Land Trust will host its 15th annual Through Farms and Fields benefit at Whitecap Farm in Water Mill, in honor of Kathleen King, on Sunday, August 6th, at 4 p.m.

"Every year at Through Farms and Fields we look forward to an opportunity to honor people who have made an impact on the East End. This year will be no different," explained John v.H. Halsey, President, Peconic Land Trust. "As we feast on our local bounty with people from diverse backgrounds - farmers, newcomers, locals, multi-generational Long Islanders, visitors, and more - we will honor Kathleen King, a farm family's daughter, for her dedication to conservation and community."

The Master of Ceremonies of this year's benefit will be Richard W. King, Kathleen's brother, who is a founding member of the Peconic Land Trust and served on their board of directors from 1983 to 1988. Richard also runs his family farm, North Sea Farms, has served as a youth minister for more than 20 years and as interim pastor at the first Presbyterian Church in Southampton and in 2014 became the Minister of the Cutchogue Presbyterian Church.

Kathleen is the founder of the beloved Tate's Bake Shop and her chocolate chip cookies have become household favorites around the world. Kathleen started baking at the age of 11 and sold her creations at her family's farm stand in the early 1970s.

Through Farms and Fields celebrates the local bounty of the East End by showcasing the amazing salad greens, vegetables, herbs and fruits from local farms as well as the fresh fish from our shores and livestock raised on our fields. Wines from local vineyards will also be available. The event will be hosted at Whitecap Farm by sisters Amy and Jennifer. During the cocktail hour guests will be invited to join a haywagon tour of the farm with the farm's owner.

"It is most appropriate that this year's event is hosted by two more farmers' daughters of note, Amy Halsey-Cohn and Jennifer Halsey Dupree, at their Whitecap Farm in Mecox. Together, Kathleen, Amy and Jennifer exemplify our community's commitment to preserving our agricultural heritage and we couldn't be more fortunate to have their support," added Halsey. "We look forward to an evening of amazing stories, good food and wine, and a beautiful summer night on the farm."

The year's event will also feature a special raffle with items donated by Hampton Hills Golf and Country Club, Terry Elkins, Jarin K Jewlery, John Stuart, Marders and Mae Mougin, while the supper will be prepared by The Art of Eating.

Tickets begin at $350.
