Legislator Jay Schneiderman (I-Montauk) sponsored Resolution 967-2012, which authorized the transfer of surplus blackberries, accessories and other telephone devices to The Retreat, Inc in East Hampton. The legislation was unanimously approved at the Suffolk County Legislature's general meeting on Tuesday, November 20, 2012. "I am pleased I was able to assist The Retreat in obtaining surplus cell phones and other telephone accessories. The phones will be provided to clients for use in case of an emergency," said Legislator Schneiderman.

The Retreat's mission is to provide safety, shelter and support for victims of domestic abuse and to break the cycle of family violence. If you are a victim of family violence, call for help. The Retreat Hotline is the important critical first step, which is answered by highly trained staff who are available to help client 24 hours a day seven days a week at 631-329-2200.
