Thiele noted that these projects will advance safe, reliable, and comfortable transportation for non-motorized travelers on pedestrian walkways, marked bicycle routes and bike lanes in compliance with the American with Disabilities (ADA) and New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) standards. These projects will fill sidewalk gaps shorter than a half mile in length between segments of existing sidewalks, and install bicycle route and lanes to address critical connections in our local bicycle network. Curbs, signs and paving within the area may be replaced and other site improvements may be provided.

According to the New York State Department of Transportation, the projects have now entered the design phase, and are expected to commence in spring 2013.
