The award-winning documentary film "Growing Farmers" will screen at LongHouse Reserve on Saturday, March 23, 2013, beginning at 4:00 p.m. The film, directed by Michael Halsband and produced by Hilary Leff shows the next generation of farmers on the East End. The film reflects the struggles that farms face such as developments being built on farm land while also highlighting the tight knit community of local farms on Long Island. "Growing Farmers" won the Audience Choice Award for Best Short at this past year's Hamptons International Film Festival. Halsband and Leff will participate in a panel discussion following the screening. They will be joined on stage with a few of the farmers shown in the film including Scott Chaskey from Quail Hill Farm as well as Ian Calder-Piedmont and Alex Balsam of Balsam Farms.
