It's hard to believe summer is almost at an end. Soon the temperature will change and school will be in session. Whether you are a college student or high school junior, this year's "Back to School Fall Fashion" offers a wide variety of options.

The preppy look from Lacoste is always in fashion.

Rich green, deep purple, fuchsia, black, turquoise, and chocolate brown are very popular colors for this season. John Hardy is the hot name and Juicy Couture continues to dominate the market for young ladies across the country.

Leggings are the trend and when paired with baby doll tops, tunics or worn under dresses, they look great. The layered look is in and a simple cardigan matched with a fun tee-shirt or sparkly tank looks fabulous.

There are a few must have items for back to school and making the "Hot Picks" list include True Religion or Joe's Jeans, baby doll and trapeze tops, Capri leggings, ballerina flats (check out Juicy, BCBG, Michale Kors and Jessica Simpson), over-sized handbags (Juicy, Kooba, Coach) for girls and Tumi or Prada (for those with expensive taste) messenger bags for boys.

Boys fashion for 2008 takes the cool casual approach. Jeans with a vintage flare paired with a layered long-sleeve tee-shirt and button down print top (plaids, stripes, or artistic prints) are a great choice. And, of course the preppy look is always a classic for those clean cut, conservative young men.

Gap offers an array of choices for girls and boys and this year a few standouts for girls include low-rise bell jeans ($69.50), railroad stripe carpenter jeans ($59.50), super bell jeans ($78), curvy boot cut jeans ($59.50 and $69.50), new low-rise boot cut jeans ($88), and roll-up cargo pants ($59.50 available in Sherwood Forest, Dark Graphite and Gargoyle Taupe in regular, tall and petite), cable cardigan ($48 available in navy, black, magic water, heather orange, off-white, brown heather, lime juice, lilac glaze and heather gray) and striped roll sleeve cardigan (available in gray).

Long sweaters from Banana Republic and a pop of color is right for fall.

And for the boys: Gap's surplus khakis ($44.50 available in chino oil, chino clay and chino army), low-rise straight fit jeans ($78), standard fit jeans ($54.50) and standard fit vintage jeans ($49.50).

Long sweaters and wide-leg jeans are hot. Check out Banana Republic Ribbed Cardigan and Wide leg jeans (priced at $89 each) and the Dallas ostrich peep toe platform ($150).

Backpacks and messenger bags are essential and there are many types to choose from. Whether you prefer leather suede or good old canvas, there are an abundance of durable and fashionable options.

When in the Hamptons, check out Flashbacks (Sag Harbor), Calypso (Montauk, East Hampton, Southampton, and Westhampton Beach), Banana Republic and Gap (Bridgehampton Commons), and Flying Point Surf Shop (Southampton and Sag Harbor).

Tanger Outlet Center in Riverhead is a great place for back to school shopping. They have every shop imaginable in one area. Stop by Polo Ralph Lauren, Nine West, Nike, Tommy Hilfiger, Lacoste, Guess, J. Crew, Tumi and many more outlet boutiques where you will find some of the best deals for back to school.

Whatever attire you choose, remember to dress comfortably.
