Children's Museum of the East End
) was recently awarded $15,000 to support their community arts program, "Community Creates," by the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA). "Community Creates" provides opportunities for underserved youth from Long Island to enhance their learning by creating artwork during the education outreach initiative. Participants in the program will be able to paint, draw, and make ceramics, all in a series of workshops led by local visual artists and museum staff educators.
"Communities like Riverside are in urgent need of the types of services that the Museum provides," said Siris Barrios, community liaison for Riverside Rediscovered, one of several organizations that will host the outreach program. "This is amazing for us. This grant allows programming for kids and families who don't usually have access to the arts."
