Educational Farm will continue its summer concert series on Sunday, August 13 with a performance by The Barefoot Movement, "one of the most promising young bands on the bluegrass scene," according to CMT Edge.
The band was established seven years ago and consists of fiddler Noah Wall, guitarist Alex Conerly, mandolinist Tommy Norris, and upright bassist Katie Blomarz. The Barefoot Movement has released two full-length albums, an EP of traditional music, and has showcased their songs during several cross-country tours and appearances at music festivals across the country.
"The Barefoot Movement is a group that embodies all the things that I love about what is referred to as 'traditional' music...They are both great players, singers AND arrangers of ORIGINAL songs..they know the importance of having and building an identity of their own," noted Adam Steffey. "And it's these original songs and the way that they have arranged and delivered these tunes that really captures your attention and keeps you wanting more."
The band has been featured in Country Weekly Magazine
, CMT Edge
and Music City Roots
, and they were also selected as showcase artist at both the IBMA and Americana conferences. The Barefoot Movement was the first runners-up at the Telluride new band competition and received the 2014 Momentum award as Band of the Year at the International Bluegrass Music Association awards.
"With groups like The Barefoot Movement on the scene, the future of bluegrass is in safe hands," said The Daily Country.
Tickets to the concert are $25 in advance and $30 at the gate. Admission for kids 10 and under are free.
