Gloria Steinem will appear at a special presentation hosted by The Retreat that will take place at Guild Hall in East Hampton on Tuesday, August 9th at 7 p.m. The internationally recognized feminist, journalist, and social and political activist will be interviewed by young adults and also talk about her life experiences. Additionally, The Thunderbird Sisters of the Shinnecock Nation will perform a few songs before Steinem takes the stage.

"We are honored and thrilled to have Gloria Steinem as our guest speaker at Guild Hall," remarked Executive Director of The Retreat, Loretta K. Davis. "Ms. Steinem is a champion of equal rights and civil rights, not only for women but for all individuals worldwide."

The Retreat, founded in 1987, is a safe haven for individuals and families in crisis. It offers safety, shelter, and support for victims of domestic abuse and sexual assault. The organization also provides a 24-hour bilingual hotline, counseling, legal advocacy, prevention, education, and an emergency shelter.

Steinem's presence at Guild Hall for this event is a no-brainer as her interests align directly with the mission of The Retreat. Causes that she is particularly committed to include the shared origins of sex and race caste systems, gender roles, and child abuses as roots of violence, non-violent conflict resolution, the cultures of indigenous peoples, and organizing across boundaries for peace and justice.

Tickets to An Evening with Gloria Steinem at Guild Hall start at $75, while benefactor tickets start at $500 and will include a private reception following the engagement.

Guild Hall is located at 158 Main Street in East Hampton. For tickets or more information, call 631-329-4298 or visiting www.theretreatinc.org.
