Southampton - The Center for Therapeutic Riding of the East End (CTRR) will hold a benefit gala on Thursday, August 25, 2011, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Sebonack Golf Club, 405 Sebonack Road in Southampton.

The public is invited to join CTREE and special guest, NBC Today Show Animal Advocate Correspondent and Best Selling Author, Jill Rappaport, for a cocktail reception and silent auction to celebrate Horses Changing Lives, to benefit the CTREE.

CTREE's horseback riding lessons and equine assisted activities offer profound physical benefits in a sensory integration-rich environment, thus providing children and young adults with disabilities an unparalleled opportunity to develop skills and confidence. CTREE is proud to be a member of Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship International (PATH). All instructors are PATH certified and are assisted by trained and dedicated program volunteers.

CTREE's 14 year old rider, Collier, began riding at CTREE nine months ago in order to help develop his low muscle tone and self-confidence. Since then, Collier has strengthened his abdominal core and leg muscles so he can now do a posting trot from his legs - a feat akin to riding a two-wheeler without training wheels! Collier was acutely aware of his accomplishment exclaiming, "Look at me, I'm smokin' now!"

His aide (also a CTREE volunteer), Diana, reports he is doing twice as many sit-ups at school. His mom, Sarah, says, "It's just amazing for me to see this transformation in Collier - it's all coming together. Collier is just blossoming in every aspect of his life."

All the riders at CTREE have experienced successes. Whether it's the ability to focus more on schoolwork, be more receptively and verbally communicative, or walk across a field because the rider's legs can't, CTREE's horses and program are the catalysts for astounding achievements.

CTREE is a not-for-profit (501c3) organization located on the eastern end of Long Island, New York. Therapeutic horseback riding lessons and equine assisted activities are available to everyone regardless of their ability to pay. All lessons are held at Wolffer Estate Stables, 41 Narrow Lane East in Sagaponack.

Tickets to the event begin at $250. For more information on the CTREE at Sebonack event please contact Managing Director, Karen Bocksel, karen@ctreeny.org , at 631-779-2935 or go to the webiste.
