Women War Correspondents

Wednesday, November 13, 2019

12:00 pm

In the 1940s, women journalists had to fight to cover World War II, and although they were barred from combat zones, women correspondents were determined to go where the action was. This presentation will highlight the experiences of the women who broke the rules and defied the notion that war coverage was the exclusive province of male writers. That defiance and the quality of their reporting opened the doors to women covering wars today. We will focus on women who covered World War II, Vietnam and middle eastern conflicts. Co-Sponsored with the Rogers Memorial Library.
