It happened on September 21, 1938 on a bucolic late summer afternoon. The storm came out of nowhere, destroying houses, farms, shops, laying flat giant elms, and by the time it was over it had killed over 800 people on Long Island and in New England. Author, Genie Chipps Henderson, has spent years researching the 1938 storm. Her novel is based on actual events, situations and people.
