Peconic Land Trust will host a visit to the wilds of Suffolk County’s
Cranberry Bog Nature Preserve. Join naturalist John Turner and explore
what was, at one time, the largest cranberry farm on Long Island. Learn
about this past agricultural tradition for which Long Island was ranked
near the top, how cranberry farms were created, and what brought about
their demise. Easy ˝ mile walk around Sweezey’s Pond in the LI Pine
Barrens to explore native flora and fauna.
