Friday, March 1, 2019

7:30 pm to 9:00 pm

How are astronauts trained to use the equipment on the International Space Station? How are space capsules recovered from the sea? In what projects do the Departments of Defense and Naval Research use deep sea divers, submersibles & robotics? Southampton Town Councilman & former NASA engineer, John Bouvier, will discuss his work training astronauts, developing technologies used in deep sea and on-orbit space exploration, and his own involvement in missions such as the recovery of the Liberty Bell 7, the Mercury 11 space capsule piloted by astronaut Virgil "Gus" Grissom, and more.
