Pierson vs. Post: The Sagaponack Foxhunting Case That Made Legal History

Thursday, March 28, 2019

11:00 am

The 1805 foxhunting case Pierson v Post, which has long been used in American property law classrooms, had its origins in Sagaponack when two wealthy young men squabbled over the ownership of a fox that had been pursued by one and killed by the other. Angela Fernandez, a legal historian at the Faculty of Law at the University of Toronto, puts the case in context in her book “Pierson v Post".
