How The Jews Came To Long Island

Thursday, April 5, 2018

1:00 pm

The first Jews in New York landed in 1654 in New Amsterdam. After many years, they began migrating to Long Island finding work as peddlers, farm hands and factory workers with a desire to establish their own family farms or small businesses. Tom Edmonds, Executive Director of the Southampton Historical Museum, will lead a discussion on the history of Long Island Jews and their settlement in Southampton. It is hoped of the audience will relate their own family histories and broaden our knowledge on this fascinating topic. Co-sponsored with the Rogers Memorial Library.
