World Premiere Of ’A Moment In Time’

New York City - The new musical, "A Moment in Time" had its world premiere on Friday, June 25 at the Dix Hills Performing Arts Center. "A Moment in Time" is a new musical written and directed by four time Tony Award winner, Stewart F. Lane with music and lyrics by John Denver. The musical is an original story about a wounded marine in Afghanistan and the flashback he has which helps him get through his near death experience. The music is from the songbook of John Denver.

Lane wrote and directed the new musical.

One of the world's best-known and best-loved performers, Denver earned international acclaim as a songwriter, performer, actor, environmentalist and humanitarian. Denver's music has spanned three decades, outlasted countless musical trends, and garnered numerous music awards and honors, including a 1996 Induction into the Songwriter's Hall of Fame.

Denver's generosity of spirit colored his music with a pure, simple grace, casting a spell that crossed the barriers of age, economics, geography, language and politics. He was a rare combination - a gifted performer and an extraordinary man who utilized his success to give greater visibility to the many causes that he championed. The powers of his artistry and world vision continue to touch people all over the world

The cast for "A Moment in Time" includes Marie Danvers, Alexander Greenwald, Kiley L. McDonald, Michael Sample and Timothy Warmen with Matt Burns, Steve Chazaro, Sarah Hiance, Alicia Jagrup, Kelly Schmidt, and Christopher Timson.

"A Moment in Time" was directed by Lane with choreography by Shea Sullivan. The show was produced by Dr. Stanley Cohen, Bonnie Comley and Jared Hershkowitz. Scenic Design by Luke Foco, Lighting design by Gary Gifford, costume design by Sherry Kfare, sound design by Matt Ragone, and Michael Johnson, Jr. was the stage manager.

The Dix Hills Center for the Performing Arts' (DHPAC) 500 seat theater is on the campus of the Five Towns College. DHPAC is home to a wide range of performances. While featuring productions of classic and original plays, and Broadway musicals, the Center hosts events that include stand-up comedians, jazz concerts, piano recitals, and choral works.
