Bob Drury and Tom Clavin explore the astounding story of the nineteenth century's most dynamic and successful Indian warrior in their new book, "The Heart of Everything That Is." While most have heard of Geronimo, Sittng Bull, and Crazy Horse, before the novel not much was known about Red Cloud, even though the Oglala Sioux chief was the only Plains Indian to have a war named after him.

The rediscovery of a lost autobiography as well as meticulous research by the award-winning authors led to the fiery account. At the peak of his influence, the Sioux could declare control of one-fifth of the United States. In "The Heart of Everything That Is" learn the untold narrative of the Oglala Sioux chief who observed the opening of the west.

Tom Clavin will take part in Friday Night Dialogues at the Shelter Island Public Library on Friday, November 22, at 7 p.m.

Just finished the book - awesome. It does have one glaring error on page 206, when discussing the Bridge Station attack they assert that the area (Casper) would eventually become the state capitol. Cheyenne is and always has been the capitol of Wyoming. Makes me wonder how far from NY/NJ these guys actually travelled to research this story.
