Westhampton Beach Performing Arts Center
(WHBPAC) piloted "Sip & Speak" in 2018, a program geared towards adults (21+) looking to improve their public speaking skills, while having fun, and a cocktail or two as they practice. The six-week program was received tremendously well. The program will return this year with the addition of a new and separate program called "Sip & Sing," taught by East End Cabaret Queen, Valerie diLorenzo.
"We're so excited to offer not one but TWO Sip! Classes this fall," said Julienne Penza
-Boone, Director of the Arts Academy and Teaching Artist of Sip and Speak.
On Tuesdays from October 22 through November 26, from 7 to 8:30 p.m., Sip & Speak will focus on improving participant's public speaking. Class-goers will get a glass of wine and learn the lifelong tools they'll need to give speeches like a pro. Source material will come from plays, literature, and famous speeches. Penza-Boone will lead the sessions, hopefully leaving students as confident as Oprah
in just six weeks.
"For years we've been engaging young people in high quality arts education experiences, and now we hope to expand into providing the adults in our community with those opportunities as well!" Penza-Boone added.
Sip & Sing will take place on Wednesdays from October 23 through December 4, from 6 to 8 p.m., with performances between December 7 at 7 p.m. and December 8 at 2 and 7 p.m. If you love to sing and a good libation, this class, taught by diLorenzo, a professional singer, is perfect for you. The course includes mini voice lessons for all with group vocal exercises to strengthen participant's voices and improve breath support, learning and singing fun and upbeat songs. There is no experience necessary and ability to read music is not required. Students will receive lyric sheets and receive the opportunity to perform as a part of the Holiday Spectacular in December.
All are welcome to participate. The intention is to create an environment of fun and learning.
