For this year's
Mixed Nuts production,
Studio 3 stars will follow the yellow brick road to the Emerald City.
The Bridgehampton-based dance studio's annual holiday performance at
Bay Street in Sag Harbor will combine aspects of
Tchaikovsky's
The Nutcracker, a seasonal classic, with another all time favorite,
The Wizard of Oz.
Each seasonal spectacular has a different theme - with previous years revolving around
Beauty and the Beast, Peter Pan, Annie, The Great Gatsby, The Grinch, and more. The 2018 iteration will be set in the magical Emerald City, as Dorothy (the role of Clara in
The Nutcracker) and her new friends set out on a quest to return Dorothy back to Kansas. In this version the feared Rat King will be Wicked Witch of the West.
Nearly 40 dancers, ranging from preschool to high school age, will take the stage during the mash-up that will showcase a variety of dance forms, including ballet, of course, jazz, and even lyrical dancing.
Tickets to
Mixed Nuts are $25. Performances will be held on Friday, December 14 at 7 p.m., Saturday, December 15 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, December 16 at 1 p.m.
Bay Street is located at 1 Bay Street in Sag Harbor. For more information, visit dancestudio3.com.
