After eight years of amusing East End audiences during Our Fabulous Variety Show
(OFVS) productions, OFVS founders Anita Boyer
and Kasia Klimiuk
are venturing into a new genre, comedy.
The duo will present their inaugural, one night only comedy showcase, Shut up and Laugh!
, on Friday, September 28.
The two-woman comedy show will feature original monologues from Klimiuk and Boyer, comedic antidotes from their personal lives, appearances from beloved OFVS characters, improv from Velvet Robot, the OFVS Improv Crew, and more.
"The show will present our original Hamptons monologues, improv comedy featuring Joe Pallister
and Kristen Lee Curcie, more surprises and special guests, and female impersonator/drag queen Danny Ximo of RaffaShow will present some funny and show-stopping numbers as well," they told us.
Shut up and Laugh!
will take place at Guild Hall
in East Hampton. Tickets range from $15 to $25.
Additionally, OFVS is currently seeking applicants for its OFVS Performing Arts Scholarship 2018. Open to graduating seniors that have a background in the performing arts - which includes theatre, choral ensembles, dance, orchestra, marching bands, opera, drama or musical productions, and also stage crew or behind the scenes personnel like costume makers, set designers, producers, directors and choreographers - OFVS founded the scholarship to take some of the financial burden off of local students while they pursue their degrees. Those that apply do not have to be pursuing a performing arts degree. Applicants must apply by Thursday, November 1, 2018 and can do so online, by emailing their application to email@example.com
, or mailing in an application (PO BOX 2424, Southampton, NY 11969). The scholarship recipient will be announced during Cirque du Fabuleux
, OFVS's December Show Beneficiary, which will be held on on Friday, November 30, Saturday, December 1 and Sunday, December 2.
