Know a rising star that absolutely shines when they take center stage? Encourage them to enter Southampton Youth Bureau’s open auditions for the annual Hamptons Got Talent Competition.
“We have a great amount of talent amongst the youth in our community,” Peter Strecker, Neighborhood Aide, Town of Southampton Youth Bureau, reflected. “Hamptons Got Talent has always been a great outlet for young performers to express their creativity and to get public performance experience in front of their friends and family.”
Those interested will have three opportunities to try out: Friday, January 12 at the Hampton Bays Community Center (25 Ponquogue Avenue, Hampton Bays), Thursday, January 18 at Southampton Town Hall (116 Hampton Road, Southampton), and Tuesday, January 23 at the Flanders Community Center (655 Flanders Road, Flanders). The auditions are open to dance groups, solo artists, poets, bands, magicians, comedians, and other artistic acts. Contestants are permitted to provide background music or perform with live instruments.
“We had a very successful competition last year with acts ranging from musicians to dancers,” Strecker said.
Hamptons Got Talent is open to students in grades 5 through 12 that reside in the Township of Southampton. Those that are selected will perform in the 5th Annual Hamptons Got Talent Competition on Friday, March 2 at the Hampton Bays High School.
“It’ll be exciting to see what new acts will show up at the auditions this year,” he concluded.
The open call will run from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. on all three dates. There is no fee to audition.
