On Friday, December 18th, John Bonefede, a multi-media/multi-discipline fine artist, and Molly Morgan Weiss
, an artist, curator, event producer, and director of 151 Gallery, will serve as the featured models during the Parrish Art Museum
's Gesture Jam,
an expressive figure drawing event led by Andrea Cote
"Gesture Jam is a unique art-making event for the community where both the performers and the audience create work in an inspirational setting," said Cote, a New York-based multi-disciplinary artist who coordinates the Education Program at The Watermill Center
. "The program — a fusion of disciplines including music, dance, theatre, and the visual arts — places the participants and audience right inside the creative process."
The two-hour class offers artists several opportunities to immerse themselves during the theatrical event, whether it be actively participating by illustrating the models or just simply watching as the process and performance unfold. The workshop is broken into a trio of 30-minute drawing sessions, each of which are followed by a short break. Under the watchful eye of Cote, attendees will sketch the two models as they dramatically enact a selection of poses.
Cote specifically personalized Gesture Jam
for the Parrish, and this marks the fifth installation of the series at the Museum.
participants are encouraged to bring their own sketchpads, as well as dry media drawing materials. The event is open to artists of all levels.
The workshop begins at 6 p.m. Admission is $10, but free for members, children and students.
