Colin Quinn is starring in a new comedy, "Colin Quinn The New York Story," based on his best-selling book, "The Coloring Book: A Comedian Solves Race Relations in America," and the production is coming to Bay Street Theater
The satirical play is directed by Jerry Seinfeld
and revolves around Quinn reflecting on the rise and fall of New York. The public workshop presentation of Quinn's new work-in-progress takes a look at the Big Apple's modest beginnings as Dutch outpost to the hipsters of modern Williamsburg to the vermin that can be found both below and above ground.
Quinn has an extensive background in comedy, including a stint on "Saturday Night Live," hosting Comedy Central's "Tough Crowd With Colin Quinn," his parody web series, "Cop Show," which included a guest appearance by Jerry Seinfeld, and his latest project, "Trainwreck" with Amy Schumer
. Quinn and Seinfeld prove to be a good team, as their last play, "Colin Quinn Long Story Short," was nominated for the Drama Desk Awards and for an Emmy
as an HBO
special in 2011.
Shows will take place on Tuesday, June 30th, Thursday, July 2nd and Friday, July 3rd at 4 p.m. Tickets are $20 to 40.
