“Mom, It’s MY Wedding!,” the latest collaboration from Center Stage Director Michael Disher and writer Ilene Beckerman, is set to debut at Southampton Cultural Center (SCC) on Thursday, January 15th. The comedy will run through Sunday, February 1st at SCC’s Levitas Center for the Arts.
Often considered the most important day in a woman’s life, preparing for a wedding is always an eventful experience. “Mom, It’s MY Wedding!,” which was written and conceived by Beckerman with Disher, takes a comical look at the unforeseen drawbacks and pauses during the stressful planning process. With tension and comedic relief, the duo explores every bridal decision and the consequence that come along with it, and also the inevitable bonding between mothers and daughters.
Directed by Michael Disher, “Mom, It’s MY Wedding!,” stars Brooke Alexander, Linda Aydinian, Daniel Becker, Susan Cincotta, Allison-Rose DeTemple, Holly Marie Dunn, Rebecca Edana, Stephanie Grady, Karin Greene, Tom Gregory, Samantha Honig, Barbara Jo Howard, Joan Lyons, Catherine Maloney, Mitchell Robin, April Schiavonni, Mary Sabo, Frances Sherman, Danielle Shuman, Josephine Wallace and Susan Wojcik.
This is the third time that Disher and Beckerman have teamed up for a production at SCC. Two years ago, Disher directed Beckerman in her autobiographical role in “Love, Loss and What I Wore,” and last year they earned raved reviews for “Sex: What She’s Really Thinking.”
Performances will take place on Thursdays at 7:30 p.m., Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m., and Sundays at 2:30 p.m. General admission is $22 and the student rate (under 21 with ID) is $12.
