While Bruno Mars will take the stage during halftime at Metlife Stadium during Super Bowl XLVIII, the National Football League (NFL) has chosen the five-time Tony Award-nominated “Rock of Ages” to kickoff the festivities in New York City.
The cast of the Broadway hit will belt out ’80s favorites on the Roman Numerals Stage of “Super Bowl Boulevard – Engineered by GMC” at 41st Street & Broadway on Thursday, January 30, and also mere hours before kickoff at the official NFL Tailgate Party at the Grandstand at Meadowlands Racetrack and Game Day Fan Plaza outside of MetLife Stadium on Super Bowl Sunday, February 2.
To get fans involved in the Super Bowl celebrations, “Rock of Ages” launched an online video contest to find one lucky winner who will get to live out their fantasy of being part of an ’80s band (I mean who wouldn’t want to with their free flowing, awesome hair). A panel of rockers chose the top five entries, and now it’s up to you to decide who will be the last vocalist standing.
The champion will take part in ‘Broadway’s Best Party’ on Thursday, January 30, joining the cast as they perform “Don’t Stop Believin'” in the heart of Times Square.
