"Our show sets us apart from other Nutcrackers, because we include all dancers, not just ballerinas," noted Meredith Shumway
, Assistant Director of Studio 3
, about the upcoming 'Mixed Nuts' performance. "Also, each year, our students have the opportunity to perform at one of the most historic theaters in the Hamptons, Bay Street Theatre
. It's a chance to dance on the same stage that famous actors like Joy Behar
, Alec Baldwin
, Alan Alda
, Kate Burton, and other greats have performed on."
Set in the 1920s, 'Mixed Nuts' brings the glam of the Great Gatsby
to the stage with an array of dance styles including Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Hip Hop, Lyrical, Acrobatics and Tango. This is the third year the holiday twist on the iconic The Nutcracker
has been performed in the Hamptons. Normally performed by solely ballet dancers, Studio 3 wanted to create a show which could include several genres of performers. The cast features year-round local students at Studio 3 in Bridgehampton, and the newly opened Watermill location.
Performances are on Friday, December 13, and Saturday, December 14, at 7 p.m and Sunday, December 15, at 2 p.m. Tickets are $20 and can be purchased by calling 631-537-3008 or e-mailing firstname.lastname@example.org
