Our Fabulous Variety Show (OFVS) is set to present “Godspell,” a musical by Stephen Schwartz and book by John Michael Tebelak. The production will run July 19 through 27 and performances will benefit the First Presbyterian Church of Southampton.
The musical is a fun and vibrant, modern day retelling of the New Testament parables from the Gospel that is both comedic and sentimental. The cast of characters often use their own names as they help explain to the audience the teachings of Jesus. Some notable songs include “Day by Day,” “All for the Best,” and “Turn Back, O Man.”
The production is directed and musically directed by Linda Contino, Ward Melville High School Theatre Director and choreographed by OFVS producer Anita Boyer. The play will feature Jessica Contino, Leanne Contino, Michael Contino, Emma Forgione, Nathan Haltiwanger, Anita Boyer, Devon Leaver, Spencer Rosner, and Daniel Santangelo.
Since their first performance in October 2010, OFVS has produced six other productions, and continued to raise funds for local charities at each performance.
“Godspell” will take place at the First Presbyterian Church of Southampton which is located at 2 South Main Street.
Tickets for general admission are $20 in advance and $25 at the door. For more information visit www.ourfabulousvarietyshow.org.
