This summer you don't have to travel all the way to Manhattan to see a Broadway quality play. On Monday, June 25, 2012, New York City
-based theater company HardSparks, is heating up the Hamptons with three short plays by some of New York's most dynamic new playwrights at "SparkHampton: The Wickapogue Plays".
The series of site-specific performances will feature work by Crystal Skillman (Cut, Wild), J.Stephen Brantley (Eightythree Down, Blood Grass), and Daniel Talbott (Slipping, Yosemite), who will also direct the three pieces. Fashion stylist Irene Albright will host the series of plays at her Southampton home which boasts a cast including Kathryn Erbe, Brian Miskell, Seth Numrich, and Jelena Stupljanin.
The first piece stars Kathryn Erbe and was written by Daniel Talbott. Talbott wrote the piece as a response to online reports of 'emo' teenagers being killed in the Middle East, the play brings up issues of cultural differences and world consciousness. It takes a look into how society responds from a place of releative comfort and freedom to atrocities that happen far away, but suddenly feel very personal.
The second piece is written by full time Southampton resident J.Stephen Brantley. Watch the drama unfold as a cater waiter who has had enough of the 'summer people' goes to extreme lengths to even the score, someone may even end up in the pool.
"Hard Sparks is about presenting daring, innovative work, " said Hard Sparks co-founder J.Stephen Brantley. "I look forward to teaming with playwrights like Crystal Skillman and Daniel Talbott to bring bold new plays to some of the most beautiful and inspiring places on the East End."
The series of plays start at 7:30 p.m. Tickets to "SparkHampton: The Wickapogue Plays" are $40 and include the performance, food and drinks. To purchase in advance, visit www.HardSparks.com
