New York City - "Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson" was one of the most exciting new musicals this past spring off-broadway at The Public Theater. On October 13 the show opened on Broadway at The Bernard Jacobs Theater with Benjamin Walker reprising the title role.

Naomi Watts and Liev Schreiber.

"Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson" is an irreverent retelling of the life of America's seventh president by Alex Timbers, (writer/director) and Michael Friedman, (composer/lyricist).

Andrew Jackson is portrayed as a rock star, complete with tight jeans, groupies, and a desire for power through fame. The 90 minute show is adored by younger audiences for its rock score, by the over 30 crowd for its look at the first American Populist president and by the over 50 crowd for the history lesson it contains.

The cast includes Benjamin Walker, Kristine Nielson, James Barry, Darren Goldstein, Greg Hildreth, Jeff Hiller, Lucas Near-Verburgghe, Cameron Ocassio, Bryce Pinkham, Nadia Quinn, Maria Elena Ramirez, Kate Cullen Roberts, Ben Steinfield, and Emily Young.

It is produced by The Public Theater and Jeffrey Richards, Jerry Frankel, Scott Delman, Susan Gallin, Mary Lu Roffe, Stewart F. Lane, Bonnie Comley, and Center Theatre Group.
