Westhampton Beach Performing Arts Center (WHBPAC) is once again hosting another round of virtual watch parties.
Tuesday Night Watch with WHBPAC will feature a series of movies available on Amazon, and during the screenings, viewers can comment on shocking plot twists, things that intrigue them, or offer insightful observations in the real-time chat moderated by WHBPAC.
“Anytime we get to engage patrons with film, especially those that meet our mission to introduce new ideas, places, and people to our audience, is a win,” Allison Frost, WHBPAC Director of Volunteer Services, said. “We’ve curated a series of smart but fun movies that all have one thread connecting them – passion.”
The bi-weekly series launched on January 19 with Rumble: The Indians Who Rocked the World. Upcoming screenings include Fast Color on February 2, Stuffed on February 16, Generation Wealth on March 2, Marina Abramovic: The Artist is Present on March 16, and A Suitable Girl on March 30. Viewings will commence at 8:00 pm.
“Some of the film choices may seem a little odd at first (a movie about taxidermists?) but they’ve been chosen because the filmmakers treat their subjects like real people first, and not walking talking oddities living at the edge of society,” Frost added. “And honestly, that’s refreshing these days.”
There is no fee to join the chat, but donations to the WHBPAC, a non-profit performing arts center that has been closed since March 2020, are greatly appreciated. Advanced registration is required. The online chat program is built into Amazon’s Watch Party and around 7:30 p.m., a link that takes attendees to WHBPAC’s Watch Party on Amazon will be sent out via email.
