Mountainfilm on Tour is once again returning to Southampton Arts Center. The Telluride-based documentary film festival will screen a duo of special family and student programming on Friday, September 25.
“For the past five years we have had the privilege of presenting the Mountainfilm for Students program to Southampton and Tuckahoe Intermediate and High School Students,” Mountainfilm on Tour Southampton organizer Elyn Kronemeyer noted. “Over the years students have responded to the films with energy and enthusiasm.”
The viewings will commence with SAC Youth Global Citizen After School Program – Mountainfilm. From 4:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., ages 11 through 15 will enjoy inspiring short films as well as a Q&A with Kronemeyer. The event will culminate with a pizza and ping-pong social hang-out.
Featured shorts, which range in length from 3 minutes to 13 minutes, will include Jeff Woods’ A Cycle Effect Story, Karl Koelling’s 1,000 Mile Dream, Chris Cresci’s Here We Stand, Cameron Nielsen’s Rewilding Honeybees, Chema Domenech’s A Walk Through The Land of A Thousand Hills and Michael Hopkins’ Siblings.
The Mountainfilm Family Program will be held at 7 p.m. “This year due to COVID-19 restrictions, we are thrilled that the Southampton Arts Center is screening this special selection of films outdoors, free of charge on Friday, September 25th at 7:00 p.m.,” Kronemeyer added. The program will delve into themes related to the film festival’s mission of “using the power of film, art and ideas to inspire audiences to create a better world.”
The short films, which range in length from 3 minutes to 14 minutes, will feature Robert Gourley’s Bear Whisperer, Alizé Carrère’s Kentucky, Karissa Akin’s River Surfer, Chelsea Jolly and Whit Hassett’s This Land, Matt Mikkelsen, Taylor Graham, and Palmer Morse’s Water Flows Together and Mike Douglas’ Charge.
Face masks are mandatory and social distancing will be observed. Admission to SAC Youth Global Citizen After School Program – Mountainfilm is $25 and admission to the Outdoor Screening of Mountainfilm Family Program is free. Reserving a spot in advance for both is required.
