Drive-in movies have seen a resurgence this summer as social distancing has become the new normal. There have been drive-in pop ups in Bridgehampton, Sag Harbor, Napeague and now Westhampton.
Starting July 6, every Monday through the end of August, Westhampton Beach Free Library is partnering with Buoy One in Westhampton to host a Drive-In Movie Series, which will highlight several beloved classics that all ages will revel in.
“During these trying times, the Westhampton Beach Free Library is constantly thinking outside the box to offer our patrons as many programs as possible,” Danielle Waskiewicz, Library Director, noted. “The drive-in movie series is just one of those programs that we have started to offer.”
The family-friendly series at Buoy One will commence with Back to the Future on Monday, July 6. Additional July screenings will include Toy Story (July 13), The Karate Kid (July 20), and Raiders of the Lost Ark (July 27).
August will feature Sixteen Candles (August 3), Shrek (August 10), Honey, I Shrunk the Kids (August 17), Finding Nemo (August 24), and A Hard Day’s Night (August 31).
Movie-goers must register in advance and there is a $10 registration fee. Screening times vary.
In addition to the Monday Night Drive-In Movie Series, the Library is offering a plethora of virtual programming – such as fitness classes, lectures, classes for children and teens, concerts, cooking classes, writing workshops, crafting, and more. Curbside pickup is also available.
Buoy One is located at 62 Montauk Highway in Westhampton. Westhampton Free Library is located at 7 Library Avenue in Westhampton Beach. For more information, visit westhamptonlibrary.com.
