Save The Waves Film Festival To Screen An Evening Of Surf Adventures

The Save The Waves Film Festival (STWFF), the world's sole internationally-touring environmental surf film festival, is making a stop in Montauk. The 2019 Hamptons iteration, presented by Sunski, will mark the East Coast Tour finale. Screenings will take place at Marram on Sunday, August 25.

"This year's eclectic program includes films highlighting surf cultures and personalities from Tofino to Tasmania," Trey Highton, STWFF Director, noted. "We pride ourselves on providing a platform for fresh and unique perspectives on surfing, and are excited to share these stories with the Montauk community."

Starting at 7:30 p.m., the evening will feature surf, obviously, astonishing exploits, and documentaries. The Festival will also include special appearances from ambassador athletes and filmmakers.

Featured films will include Chris Jones' Junk, Forest Woodward's (People Of) Water, Dani Casado and Alex Lowther's Estado Salmonero, Bruno Monteferri's A La Mar, Bjarne Salen's Paige, and Tom Mustill's Humpback Whales: A Detective Story.

"Special guests include Puerto Rican surf activist and Save The Waves ambassador Otto Flores, as well as Hawaii based filmmaker Matt Luttrell who will be presenting his latest project Oceans featuring legendary bodysurfer Mark Cunningham in Tahiti," Highton added.

Additionally, a sunset reception at 6:30 p.m. will be held for VIP ticket holders. The hour-long soiree will include an open bar, Argentinian tapas, and live music from Kate Usher and The Sturdy Souls.

The Festival, which a fundraiser for the Save The Waves Coalition and World Surfing Reserves, champions the organization's efforts to conserve and safeguard surf ecosystems.

Tickets range from $15 to $75.
