Watching the preview of the Million Dollar Matchmaker premiere at the Crosby Hotel in Soho was a lot of fun!
WE TV has taken over the Patti Stanger franchise and has fine-tuned it with better camera work, better editing and a most entertaining show. The first episode is scheduled for Friday, July 8th, at 10 p.m. ET/PT on WE TV (on all basic cable in the Hamptons.) Watching Patti Stanger do her on camera interviews is amusing; they’re filled with laughter, squirms and informative approaches to the ways of fine-tuning one’s approach to dating and matchmaking. Ms. Stanger is a third generation matchmaker who was raised in New Jersey, but is now an icon of the L.A. scene. Her first-hand knowledge of what is going on in the “reality TV” world is perhaps second to none.
Talking with Patti in the green room showed me the softer side of this hard charging woman who rules her show with an iron fist in a velvet glove. She is very family oriented and actually preaches a two-drink rule and no kissing on the first date. I found I like the off-camera woman because she is charmingly funny and has a very sharp wit.
I had never watched her series on Bravo TV (I have now found out my youngest daughter Blair is a huge Patti fan), so I didn’t know what to expect. Within seconds, I was hooked to the swift moving scenes with “Patti insight cuts” treaded in-between the plot line of “Million Dollar” men and women trying to break their failed cycle of dating. If you have never seen an episode, it is so worth a look, and if you are a Patti Stanger fan, happy days are here again.
