"Easy Rider," 1968.

"I am thrilled that these photographs, lovingly curated by Deirdre Brennan, will be seen together for the first time in the United States and I'm honored to be one of the first artists to exhibit in the Mulford Farm Museum," said photographer Susan Wood about her upcoming Hamptons exhibit.

Close-up, a collection of iconic 1960s film images from movies including "Easy Rider" and "Modesty Blaise," represents several major moments in American cinematography over a period of more than thirty years. The exhibit will debut as part of the Hamptons International Film Festival (HIFF) program.

Billy Wilder, 1970.

While working for Paramount Pictures, United Artists, and 20th Century Fox, the photographer's projects led her to document rare, candid shots of some of the era's biggest stars including Peter Fonda, Dennis Hopper, Monica Vitti, Marcello Mastroianni, Billie Whitelaw, John Wayne, Billy Wilder, and Joseph Losey, which are featured Close-up. The exhibition was curated by Irish photographer Deirdre Brennan, who has been working with Wood's archive for the past decade.

Wood's work has been featured in Vogue, People, The New York Times, and Look, and she is known for her portraits of John Lennon and Yoko Ono, Susan Sontag, Diane Von Furstenburg, and John Updike. She was a founding member of the Women's Forum and was involved in the fight for women's rights and equality in the 1960s and 1970s.

Monica Vitti, "Modesty Blaise," 1966.

Close-up is presented in association with the Hamptons International Film Festival, with special thanks to Guild Hall, and the East Hampton Historical Society.

The opening "matinée" reception will be held at the historical barn at Mulford Farm Museum on Sunday, October 5, from 12 to 3 p.m. The exhibit will be on display from Saturday, October 4, through Sunday, October 26, on Saturdays and Sundays from 12 to 5 p.m. as well as on Thursday, October 9, and Friday, October 10, from 12 to 5 p.m. during HIFF. Admission is free.

Mulford Farm Museum is located at 10 James Lane in East Hampton. For more information, call 631-324-6850 or visit easthamptonhistory.org.
