Phoebe Snow's first recording featured guest performances by The Persuasions, Zoot Sims, Toddy Wilson, David Bromberg and Dave Mason. The album became one of the most acclaimed debut recordings of all time. The album included the Top 5 1972 hit Poetry Man, winning Snow a Grammy® Award nomination for Best New Artist and established her as a formidable singer/songwriter.

Snow went on to record many solo albums including Second Childhood (1975), It Looks Like Snow (1976), Never Letting Go (1978), Against The Grain (1979), Rock Away (1980) and Something Real (1989).

Snow has toured the world and has performed with Jewel, Linda Ronstadt, Bonnie Raitt, Boz Scaggs, Cyndi Lauper, Roger Daltry, Chaka Khan, Michael Bolton and more. She also sings the title track on the 1997 Laura Nyro tribute album Time and Love. Snow later joined the pop group Zap Mama, who recorded their own version of Poetry Man in an impromptu duet on PBS series, Sessions at West 54th. In 2003, Snow released her first original material in 14 years. The CD Natural Wonder (Eagle Records) was released on June 17, 2003.

Awards for Snow include the Cultural Achievement Award by New York City Mayor Rudolph Guiliani., Don Kirschner Rock Award, Playboy Music Poll Awards, New York Music Awards and a Clio Award.
